Position Description:
Compensation: $65,000 to $75,000
BASIC FUNCTION:
Design, monitor and maintain manufacturing processes. Work with plant management to determine best practices for manufacturing, material handling, tooling, and capital equipment. Work with design engineering to achieve the most cost effective methods for producing high quality products.
DIMENSIONS:
Report directly to Theodore’s General Manager, and interface with all shop employees, production control, maintenance, manufacturing engineering, shipping/receiving, and outside suppliers on a daily basis. Communicate regularly with Engineering, Purchasing and Quality Departments in Mason.
NATURE AND SCOPE:
Plan utilization of equipment, tooling, and personnel to maximize efficiency and lower product cost.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Draft and design layout of equipment, materials, tooling, and fixtures for maximum efficiency and throughput, and provide suggestions for improvement.
2. Plan assembly methods to assure efficient and timely progress of production.
3. Create and maintain accurate documentation of tool drawings.
4. Identify and eliminate inefficient areas in the production environment, and recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance and quality of KBC product.
5. Work with suppliers of machinery and services for successful implementation of capital projects.
6. Work with KBC maintenance to ensure maximum uptime on all manufacturing equipment.
7. Administer the EPA/Hazardous waste program ensuring that the facility and suppliers are in full compliance of all federal, state and local laws.
8. Attend regular safety training meetings.
9. Abide by all KBC policies with emphasis on attendance and safety.
10. Strive to meet or exceed customer expectations and strive for continuous improvement in the daily processes of conducting business.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Anything over 50 pounds requires two people or the use of a lifting device. Must be capable of hearing or have an awareness of forklifts and cranes moving throughout the facility, may be required to operate forklifts and cranes, and is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Must be able to climb and work from ladders and/or personnel lifting apparatus. Must be able to move around the shop floor, and negotiate ramps and uneven floor surfaces with exposure to a typical shop environment; i.e. extreme heat, cold, dust, noise, fumes and other elements. Excellent hand/eye coordination is required. Safety glasses and steel toed shoes are required, along with other required PPE.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering. Preferred experience with APICS, EPA, and OSHA rules and regulations (10 hour training complete). Knowledge of standard tools, material methods, and practices required in machining, fabricating and welding product is required. The ability to read and interpret blue prints, read measuring instruments (i.e. tape measures, etc.), and operate a fork lift and overhead crane is also required. Must be proficient in AutoCAD with a knowledge of SolidWorks. Must be able to read and write simple correspondence and be able to communicate effectively with all employees and suppliers. Must be familiar with and be able to use Microsoft Office products and ERP system experience. Must have a safe work history and at all times perform duties in a safe manner. In order to maintain strict production schedules, must be dependable with an excellent attendance record. Must also be a problem solver and have a keen sense of urgency.
